Within the Asset Maintenance group, you'll lead our technical operational team in the delivery of a wide range of capital projects and operational programs of works, primarily delivered by contractors.

You will work closely with asset stakeholders in strategic and innovative project delivery ensuring delivery milestones are achieved on time and on budget, meeting the asset maintenance departments service delivery requirements with community focused outcomes.


The significant annual renewal program of works includes the road rehabilitation and resurfacing program, structural asset renewals such as pedestrian bridges and retaining walls, stormwater treatment asset renewals, pedestrian assets, and road related infrastructure just to name a few.

You will also manage the delivery of contracted operational maintenance works across the varied City of Moreton Bay asset portfolios including civil, structural and environmental.


You'll hold responsibility for the management and delivery of the internal works operating systems, leading innovative system and practical changes, ensuring assets are maintained to the high community expectations, and in line with the corporate asset management framework, while improving efficiency.

This includes the delivery of asset inspections, defect management and works planning for the wider operational workforce.


Within the role, you'll lead the resolution of service delivery issues impacting technical operations, ensuring contractors are achieving contract requirements including design and construction, financial goals and quality.

You'll lead and further develop the technical operations team through a range of workforce management initiatives to build capability and drive a team culture of high performance and accountability in this fast-paced and highly respected team.


You'll also be responsible for:

  • Building highlevel relationships across a range of internal and external stakeholders, ensuring quality service delivery, reports, submissions across a broad range of complex mitigation and management issues in line with best practice
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of technical operations practices and driving any change through continuous improvement including technical innovations such as artificial intelligence
  • Developing and implementing capital and operational budgets in consideration to the delivery of capital and operational projects.
Participation in council's "After Hours On-Call and Programmed Overtime Roster" service is required in this role.


About you

You'll have a keen eye for detail and ensuring your team of staff is empowered, and always striving to be the best.

You'll be using your highly developed skills in capital and operational works deliveries and considerable experience in contract management.


Bring your extensive experience managing and delivering projects of a technical nature, and a high-level of analytical skills to identify strategic improvements and innovation.

You'll be using your substantial experience in building productive relationships at all levels of an organisation and driving collaborative and customer focused outcomes.

You'll also be highly skilled in conflict resolution and working in a fast-paced delivery centric environment.


You'll also bring:

  • Excellent presentation and communication skill to engage, influence and negotiate constructively with key internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated proficiency in managing budgets including forecasting and cost benefit reviews
  • Extensive experience in leading and empowering a workforce to drive high performing teams in a complex and fastpaced environment
  • Civil construction experience is highly desirable
  • Tertiary Qualification in Project and/or significant relevant experience
  • Current C Class Drivers Licence
  • Construction Induction Card.
