As our Executive Manager - Financial Planning and Analysis you will lead a talented group of finance experts dedicated to budgeting, forecasting, internal reporting, and cost optimisation.

In this pivotal role, you will work closely with the internal finance community, CSIRO Management, Executive team, and Board. You will help shape our financial landscape with your strategic insights and guidance to senior management, ensuring informed decision-making.


Your duties will include:


  • Lead a team of finance professionals, engage, motivate, and develop capability and potential in others. Transfer knowledge across the function.
  • Create reporting framework, linking key organisational and BU measures, and utilising available reporting technologies.
  • Responsible for leading, communicating and embedding Finance priorities in the Financial Planning and Analysis Team. Demonstrate ability to utilise expertise in analysing financial data and presenting insights, trends, risks & opportunities, and recommendations to senior management.
  • Lead and coordinate the financial planning and analysis function to ensure the provision of accurate, reliable, flexible, and efficient financial processes and systems that anticipate and meet customer needs.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders particularly a strong and open relationship with the Office of the CEO, CSIRO Leadership Team, Finance Leadership Team
  • Develop and maintain the standard report products used by Business Unit and Enterprise Services Function leadership on financial performance metrics, risk, and budget development.
  • Deliver and undertake adhoc reporting to support the Board, Executive, CFO and CLT as required.

Competitive salary on offer, plus up to 15.4% superannuation

To be considered you will need:


  • Education/Qualifications: A tertiary qualification in Accounting or Finance as well as relevant leadership experience in a financial environment and full membership of CAANZ/CPA Australia or equivalent.
  • Greater than 10 years' experience in a senior financial planning and analysis role.
  • Greater than 5 years' experience in public sector financial management.
  • Demonstrated experience in financial planning and analysis processes, financial modelling, and forecasting.
  • Proven experience in translating complex financial information into effective management information and providing valueadded financial advice and information to CSIRO's Management, Executive and Board.
  • Proven experience in understanding risk to facilitate informed decision making and advice.
  • Superior communication, interpersonal and influencing skills and successful track record in developing and maintaining collaborative relationships (externally and internally) at peer, executive as well as team level.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead conversations with senior stakeholders to articulate business needs and develop an appropriate strategic response.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively challenge, coach and hold leaders to account, i.e., managerial courage.
  • A track record of being able to anticipate and balance the needs of multiple stakeholders.
  • A history of anticipating and managing problems in ambiguous situations. An ability to assess the risk and opportunity of identified strategies, options and actions while overcoming problems and setbacks in achieving goals.
  • Strong interpersonal skills exemplified by experience establishing and maintaining strong partnerships and a history of delivering a credible and exceptional level of customer service. Strong ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders at all levels and ensuring alignment between client needs and CSIRO's objectives.

Desirable:

  • Advanced degree such as MBA
  • Experience using contemporary reporting technologies.
