About the role:


Reporting directly to the
Executive General Manager - Group Finance this role will provide high quality financial and commercial insight and analysis to Aveo's business leaders, investor stakeholders and financiers to enable them to make accurate and informed decisions.


The responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:
Ownership of the cash flow and IRR models

  • Review and coordinate the accurate preparation of the cash flow forecast, ensuring the integrity of inputs and calculation of outputs.
  • Understanding the processes performed by the various business units in preparing their monthly reporting packs.
  • Review of business unit commentary to ensure meaningful explanations on drivers of the results for inclusion in the monthly finance report to be sent to the CFO
  • Preparation of the executive summary section of the monthly finance report
  • Reviewing the monthly forecasts and quarterly Board Reports
  • Develop and implement initiatives to improve the integrity and accuracy of financial forecasts, analysis and planning leveraging information systems and data analysis tools.
Annual budget and business plan

  • Ownership and execution of the operational budget process, timeline, and deliverables.
  • Liaising with various stakeholders in all business units to ensure timely preparation of business unit level budgets.
  • Ownership of the annual portfolio company business plan process.
  • Liaising closely with the local Investor team to determine timing, KPI's, format and reporting requirements for the business plan.
  • Setting an appropriate timeline to ensure all stakeholders in the annual business plan has sufficient time to review the plan and provide feedback before submission is due.


  • Assist the GM

  • Group Finance and CFO in formulating and assessing strategic initiatives over the fiveyear plan and finding and securing pathways to meet investment return hurdles.
  • Ownership of the model that converts the operational budget to the business plan output.
  • Ownership of the investment return model over the 5year business plan.
  • Working closely with other business units to collect and collate nonfinancial information into the business plan presentation.
  • Delivering the business plan for submission to the offshore portfolio management team in a timely manner.
  • Preparation of the annual strategic and business plan presentation to financiers

Bank reporting:

  • Manage relationship between key financier contacts, the Investor's treasury team and Aveo
  • Review monthly and quarterly bank reporting output and ensure timelines as per the facility agreement are met
  • Monitor covenant and other facility agreement compliance based on forecast results and planned transactions
  • Review cash reporting output and investor debt reporting monthly in compliance with SOX review requirements
  • Lead the preparation of the annual business plan presentation to the financiers

Investor activities and analysis:

  • Lead the process for distributions to investors including collaboration with investor tax, legal and treasury teams that culminates in preparation of a Board pack for approval and successful payment to investors.
  • Scenario analysis of internal rate of return based on current forecasts, anticipated transactions including reporting to the investor's portfolio management team.

You'll have the following attributes:


  • 7+ years of postqualification experience in finance functions and experience in working with and leading FP&A teams
  • Demonstrated experience in building financial models and analysing financial performance and information
  • Sound knowledge of IFRS
  • Demonstrated experience in strategy setting, business planning & budgeting
  • Significant experience in business planning processes and exposure to shareholders/senior management and Boards
  • Proven track record in achieving results and ability to prioritise work in accordance with reporting needs and manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines
  • Flexibility to adapt and respond to changes emerging in a rapid paced environment
  • Skills in utilisation of Power to drive reporting desirable or similar experience with other software
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills across all levels of the business audience
