We are looking for a junior orthoptist or individual willing to learn the role of an ophthalmic technician. If you have an interest in eye care, or experience or studying as a Orthoptist, please apply.

About us:

We are a group of Ophthalmologists setting up a modern practice in the lower north shore specialising in refractive, corneal and vitreoretinal surgery, as well as general ophthalmology.

We are looking for a junior orthoptist or technician to join us.

We plan to initially employ two Ophthalmologists, an Optometrist, a junior orthoptist or technician, and administration staff along with this role, who will support our clinicians and patients, in a state of the art modern practice.

About you:

We are seeking a Junior Orthoptist or Technician to assist at a refractive and general ophthalmology practice.

You may have worked at Sydney Eye Hospital, or another public hospital/medical centre in the eye care area, or have extreme attention to detail and an interest in the medical field.

Previous technician experience in the ophthalmic or medical field would be advantageous, but full training can be provided. You will work in close collaboration with our Ophthalmologists and Optometrist along with our other administration staff.

Duties:

Performing examinations such as checking vision and intraocular pressure
Performing tests as needed for patient workup such as visual fields testing
Putting in eye drops to dilate for medical examinations
Assist our doctors during laser vision correction procedures in the surgical laser suite
Sterilise reusable medical items
Following the practice's protocol and process on all tasks
Liaison with Orthoptist, Optometrist and Surgeons

Experience:

Must have a minimum of 1 year experience as a junior orthoptist or in a technical or high attention role (not necessarily an eye clinic). Full training can be provided for the technical aspects of the job, as needed.
