About the role


The Chartering and Shipping Manager is primarily responsible for the proper handling of shipping and Chartering operation activities for the Lithium group of business.


  • Responsible for chartering activities including collecting freight rates, vetting of vessel, negotiations of charter party terms, working on loading sequence and plan and obtaining relevant internal and external approval
  • Provide market intelligent in freight and shipping and providing shipping solutions to meet the export targets, Freight Forecast and Budgeting.
  • Attending to all AMSA requirements and enquiries including moisture control procedures, export licence to ensure compliance in export regulations.
  • Work in collaboration with intracompany departments such as the Mine planning and logistics team on cargo readiness, Account payable for Freight payment and Finance team for Freight forecast and accruals.
  • Engaging with external parties such as shipbrokers, shipping agents and marine surveyors to ensure smooth export shipping and operations and meeting the export targets. Prepare and post shipping schedule on weekly basis
  • Responsible for all export documents and meeting AMSA and export requirements
  • Responsible for coordinating sampling and loading and discharge operations for both load and discharge ports
  • Responsible for coordinating for all Custom clearance, discharge operations, and local logistic in China and other destinations.
  • Check and approve freight invoice and Lay time calculations and arrange for on time freight payment, including coordinating with the finance team and getting necessary approval for payment
  • Coordinate with the sales support team to ensure smooth loading and discharge operations

About you

  • Relevant degree and qualification is in Marine, Logistic management, international trade and shipping related field, with relevant experience as an adjunct to the formal qualification held.
  • A minimum of 5 experience in a similar role
  • Demonstrated experience in in dry bulk shipping practices in commodity export sales operations
  • Understanding of price mechanics for commodities under an index linked price system.
  • Experience in working with mining, logistics and marketing finance personnel to provide an interactive team environment.
  • Working knowledge of international shipping & freight market.
  • Familiar with international trade terms including international shipping and logistics.
