The opportunity


An exciting opportunity for a Manager, Operational Risk & Governance, Investments & Treasury to join QBE's global Investments & Treasury Risk and Governance Team.


  • Reporting to the Head of Risk and Governance, Investments & Treasury, you will be an integral part of risk identification, management and mitigation for QBE's market facing functions; Group Investments (GI) and Group Treasury (GT).
  • You will support GI and GT to execute risk management responsibilities and drive the implementation and ongoing effort to embed QBE's risk management framework and further improve the maturity or risk culture.
    Your new role

In this position you will:

  • Manage and support Line 1 risk and governance forums, 3LoD risk and governance meetings.
  • Manage GI and GT policies per Governing Document Management Standard; facilitate stakeholder engagement.
  • First point of risk management support for GI and GT and central point of contact for line 2 risk & compliance, internal audit and external audit
  • Advise on clear authorities and governance paths for various investment and treasury transactions.
  • Assess operational risk and control implications in relation to new and change initiatives, such as new investment and treasury product, process, system change and project and perform required operational due diligence.
  • Perform the Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs) and Risk Maturity Self-Assessment (RMSA).
  • Implement processes per Outsourcing and Third-Party Risk Management Policies.
  • Be a risk champion in building and engaging Three Lines of Defence (3LoD), uplift Line 1 risk maturity, training and operational excellence, promote and influence a proactive and collaborative risk culture.

About you


To be successful as a Manager, Operational Risk & Governance, Investments & Treasury you will have proven experience with developing and implementing effective policies and practices.

With a collaborative style and approach, you will bring senior leaders and all levels within GI and GT on the journey to integrate of Investments & Treasury risk activities and further uplift the current level risk maturity from embedded to self-sustaining.


  • You will also have;
  • Professional qualifications such as audit, CA / CPA, CPRM and others relevant is preferred.
  • Experience in performing and providing effective operational risk / control environment review and analysis
  • Excellent analytical and problemsolving capabilities and the ability to work through complex situations and tasks
  • Proven experience of building strong working relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation
  • Handson experience with Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) systems, preferably RSA Archer.
