Support the development of evidence-based content


AERO is looking for a Teaching and Learning Specialist to support the translation of high-quality education research and policy analysis in schooling into high-impact products for teachers, school leaders and policymakers.

The role will involve providing support to develop and disseminate evidence-based guidance and resources for effectively managing classrooms and creating safe and supportive environments focused on learning.

This will include supporting the project team's work with experts and stakeholders to develop the guidance and resources so they can be easily accessed, understood and implemented, and to encourage their uptake and use.


Essential requirements

  • Qualifications in education.
  • Experience as a teacher in schools or strong knowledge of this context.
  • Experience in delivering highquality products for teachers and school leaders, including evidencebased guidance and resources, under tight timelines and competing priorities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with an ability to translate technical and complex information concisely for diverse audiences, including practical guidance and tools for practitioners.
  • Knowledge of the Australian education sector, including key stakeholders, policies and frameworks.

Desirable

  • Qualifications in public policy, social sciences or another relevant discipline.
  • Experience teaching students with additional needs and/or disability, in mainstream and/or special education settings.

  • Contribute to the scoping, planning and designing of teaching and learning guidance and resource development projects aligned to AERO's annual research agenda, with an emphasis on effectively managed and engaged classrooms.
  • Collaborate with AERO colleagues, to inform project activities and deliverables.
  • Develop evidencebased guidance and resources that support teachers, school leaders and policymakers to use more evidencebased practices, with an emphasis on effectively managed and engaged classrooms.
  • Plan for and support implementation of dissemination activities that maximise the impact of AERO research products on the Australian education community.
