The Return to Work Consultant is accountable to the Director of Workforce through the Manager WHSIM and the Injury Management Team Leader for ensuring the provision of a prompt, comprehensive, effective and efficient Return to Work service to SA Health in accordance with the Return to Work Act, 2014, Regulations, Audit Verification System (AVS) and Accreditation Standards.


As the Return to Work Consultant, you will be responsible for the provision of a consultancy or advisory service to managers, supervisors and employees, and for planning and coordinating the early intervention, return to work of injured personnel to support their prompt recovery and minimise the impact of their injury on the individual and for the organisation.

You will maintain a portfolio of cases and work in partnership with both Claims and Return to Work team, to achieve proactive intervention for work related injury, whilst contributing to an equitable and cost-effective Injury Management (IM) Service.

You will use your specialist expertise to ensure effective management of acute and long term or complex cases, as designated by the Injury Management Team Leader/WHSIM Manager.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • an in-depth knowledge of the Return To Work Act
- previous experience with the development and implementation of strategies for improved service delivery
- experience or ability to plan, monitor and review Return to Work goals and to develop and implement strategies to ensure that goals are effectively achieved.
