The role:

Rabobank has an opening for a newly created role as Model and Data Management Lead.

You will join a highly engaged Financial Economic Crime (FEC) and Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) team who average 1-2 days per week in the Sydney CBD office and remaining days working from home.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Regulatory Delivery and Implementation, this role is responsible for monitoring our local Financial Economic Crime models ensuring performance and that models meet the requirements of the Model Risk Management Framework (MRMF).

This will have a fairly even mix of responsibilities across the below areas:

  • Model and data governance (frameworks, forums, etc)
  • Data strategy/vision for the department's data analytics and business intelligence, insights; understand/interpret business requirements and come up with recommendations/solutions design
  • Handson data analysis, data mining, data flows (this will lessen when team grows)

Top Role Accountabilities:


  • Ensure adherence to the Model Risk Management Framework (MRMF) and maintain relevant documentation
  • Provide regular updates to the Model Governance Committee regarding model status, model usage, and model changes
  • Coach and grow your team by sharing your data analysis expertise and experience (once onboard you will hire a Data Analyst who will report into you)
  • Develop and implement a vision and strategy for data analytics that aligns with FIU's goals and objectives
  • Alignment with Data Management Procedures ('Norms and Forms'), including Data Governance, Data Classification, Data Risk Management, Data Definition, Data Lifecycle and Process Management, Data Quality Management and Reference Data Management
  • Lead the design, development and maintenance of data and models, reports, dashboards and tools
  • Establish best practices and standards for data quality, security, governance, compliance, documentation and testing
  • Own, develop and implement mechanisms to elicit data requirements from projects or systems
  • Lead FIU's data management and tooling discussions
  • Act as a business consultant and trusted advisor for all model and data management activities
  • Collaborate with local stakeholders and global counterparts and act as for a key point of contact for model validation

To be successful in the role, you will have:

  • Minimum 7 years work experience in Financial Crime models (e.g., CDD CRA), and/or data analysis, modelling and data driven solutions data solutions/analytics
  • Experience in translating regulatory requirements into functional design and/or processes
  • Design and visualisation skills to create clear and effective data visualisations for dashboards and reports
  • Experience in developing workflows in tools such as Collibra and BMPN
  • Understanding of APRA CPG235 highly regarded
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience dealing with ambiguity, be flexible and adaptable in response to changing requirement and scope
