The roleThe Team Leader, Media is a member of the Media Team within Queensland Health's Strategic Communications Branch (SCB).
SCB, within the Department of Health, delivers the strategic communications priorities of Queensland Health, and supports communication activities delivered by Hospital and Health Services.
The Media team:
- protects and enhances the reputation of Queensland Health, as trusted provider of public health services and information, primarily dealing with mainstream media
- proactively manages significant issues of that gain media and public interest
- plans and delivers proactive media activity, including media releases and events, to highlight positive outcomes across the system.
The successful person
The successful person will:
- have effective leadership and people management skills within a communications or media environment and be confident in their ability to coach and mentor staff.
- have strong issues and crisis management skills and be able to effectively analyse and understand complex information and negotiate successful outcomes for the organisation.
- be able to collaborate and contribute to the positive culture of the team and have a track record of maintaining a customer service mentality and supporting all colleagues to succeed.
- have high level communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to work in partnership and build and maintain effective professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

SCB provides strategic communications advice and manages all communications outputs for the Department of Health and acts as system leader in supporting communication activities delivered by Hospital and Health Services.
SCB oversees:
- communications strategy development, delivery and evaluation
- state-wide behaviour changes marketing campaigns
- consumer research and insights
- media and issues management
- corporate and clinical communications
- internal communications
- partnerships and sponsorships
- strategic stakeholder engagement
- digital and social media content production and management
- creative, design and audio-visual production services
- online and web services
- events management.
