THE OPPORTUNITY:


Reporting to the Head of Health and Safety, the
Health And Safety Systems Improvement Advisor is responsible for coordinating the Pilbara Minerals Work Health and Safety Legislation implementation program and update the supporting documentation on behalf of the Company.


Promote and embed a 'Zero Harm' working environment for employees, contractors and visitors, by developing, coordinating and monitoring procedural systems, processes and training in accordance with company and legislative requirements.

This position is offered on a part-time permanent basis in West Perth.


Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Is the central point of coordination for all WHS legislative driven improvement activities.
  • Develop HS Standards and improve the standard and access of procedures and guidance documentation.
  • Improve project architecture and governance to articulate project deliverables, track these and ensure they are communicated throughout the business.
  • Provides coaching and tracking of workstreams, through implementation and into business as usual through management of change to ensure legislation intentions are met and the best health and safety outcomes are managed through the process.
  • Establish a steering committee with work stream owners to ensure project deliverables are met.
  • Communicate monthly to senior management by reporting the status of progress to plan.
  • Effectively communicates optionality to senior management to allow for efficient decision making from work streams.
  • Represents PLS on external CME committees relating to WHS legislation and reports back to Head of HSE for feedback and/or key decision making.
  • Provide specialist legal and safety advice and support to the Operations and Projects Team relating to WHS.
  • Project manage the development and implementation of a HS intranet page for easy access to key documentation.

ABOUT YOU

  • Tertiary qualification in Law, Commerce or HSE discipline (or working towards)
  • Sound knowledge of WHS law, MSIA, MSIR, and Australian Quality Training Framework
  • High level of computer literacy
  • Solid experience working in a similar role within the Mining industry
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work comfortably with legislation and large amounts of procedural documents
  • Problem solving
  • Communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills
