Position Information:


Merrylands High School is a comprehensive coeducational secondary school (enrolment 790 students, including 72% students from a non-English speaking background).

The school's strategic directions include, 'raising expectations and enhancing the quality of student learning', 'fostering quality teaching and leadership' and 'Effective Communication and Connections'.

There is a strong focus on academic achievement, student engagement, Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL), innovative technology, meaningful community participation and whole school professional learning aligned to school's strategic directions.


Selection Criteria:


  • Approval to teach Personal Development and Physical Education (PDHPE), Community and Family Studies and Sport, Lifestyle & Rec/Phy Act & Sport.
  • Highly developed interpersonal, communication and organisational skills with the capacity to contribute to faculty and whole school programs and initiatives and work as a collaborative member of the PDHPE faculty.
  • Ability to use effective classroom management skills and wellbeing practices to create classrooms and outdoor environments that are dynamic, engaging, inclusive and foster a culture of high expectations.
  • Demonstrated ability to promote sport in school and coach sporting teams including but not limited to rugby league, soccer, and netball.
