The VFA is a statutory authority established to facilitate the effective management of Victoria's fisheries resources in a coordinated and strategic way that ensures their ongoing sustainability.

The VFA functions to ensure that the Government, the recreational and commercial fishing sectors, and the Victorian community can share in and obtain the benefits from sustainable fisheries management.

The VFA has around 170 employees located in the Melbourne CBD, metropolitan Melbourne and across regional Victoria.


Licensing and Permits Officer

About the Opportunity
The position of Licensing and Permits Officer is within the Commercial licensing team within the Victorian Fisheries Authority.

The position ensures that the fishery licensing and permit system runs efficiently and effectively within the legislative requirements established under the _Fisheries Act 1995_ and subordinate regulations.


The position requires the incumbent to possess or attain a thorough knowledge of the relevant fishery legislation and commercial fishery licensing procedures.


Key Selection Criteria

  • Provide authoritative and specialist advice to clientele on regulatory requirements relating to fishery licences and permits.
  • Maintain licensing and permit databases and produce complex reports and statistical data as required.
  • Provide expert advice in the development of local databases and reporting systems.
  • Identify compliance risks through analysis of the licensing and permitting systems
  • Ability to draft complex memoranda and reports.

Role Requirements

  • A relevant tertiary degree and/or experience would be well regarded.
