The role
The General Manager is responsible for ensuring the business delivers organizational profitability, growth and efficiency targets.

The incumbent will contribute to developing a strategic plan incorporating what makes the business attractive to existing and potential clients.

The strategic plan will also articulate our competitive position, where current economic value is derived and opportunities for investment in growth.

The role is responsible for the direction of Wexco's operations in Australia.

The objective is to achieve new business growth, optimum efficiency and effective utilization of resources in all areas of control, administration and operations.


Key accountabilities

Strategy

  • Implement a strategy for growth in new business and build an operations environment that delivers service in accordance with agreed budget.
  • Identify, research and implement alternate means of delivery so that the service proposition is more cost effective.
  • Implement strategic projects within the business, this includes but is not limited to IT systems and rationalization initiatives.
  • Work with Managing Director in developing longterm plans and annual budgets (revenues as well as expenses) for the business and its activities, monitor progress, assure adherence and evaluate performance.
  • Contribute to the Finance processes and ensure that all financial reporting packages are produced according to the deadlines.
  • Identify, develop and implement new service offerings based on the specific customers' needs in Australia and New Zealand.
  • Implement new products and services as directed by the ECS Group Management Team.

Operations

  • Manage a team of specialists, ensure that customer interactions are handled in accordance with established procedures and service standards.
  • Ensure "end to end' seamless processing of transactions.
  • Identify and implement standards and targets reflecting business priorities.
  • Implement process improvements which drive efficiency and profitability.
  • Ensure alignment between business priorities and customer service.

Business Development

  • Identify the "Must Win" target clients & engage in negotiations.
  • Act as a door opener for Wexco with key targeted clients.
  • Engage and lead major bids and manage sales pipeline to reach targeted sales objectives.

Stakeholder engagement

  • Implement targeted key stakeholder maps and engagement programs to drive brand positioning and create growth
  • Build partnerships with key regional influencers
  • Develop cooperative working arrangements with all stakeholders
  • Coach and develop direct reports to maintain collaborative relationships with their key stakeholders
  • Participate in committees and forums required for successful execution of the role

Education and experience

  • Deep understanding of operating as a General Sales and Service Agent in Airfreight
  • Experience in developing and implementing business plans that have proven business improvement outcomes
  • Demonstrated ability to nurture effective and engaging relationships with key stakeholders and business influencers
  • An ability to developing and drive integrated, market led strategic initiatives, systems, tools, and processes
  • An ability to engage employees in companywide priorities through effective collaboration harnessing multiple channels of communicate
  • Excellent attention to detail, strong project management, organisational and time management skills
  • 10 years of management experience in building and executing strategies preferably within the aviation or freight forwarding sector.
  • Graduate qualifications (desireable)
