What you'll be doing:


A great opportunity is now available for a Hospital Assistant to join the dynamic Domestic Services team located at Blue Mountains Hospital, Katoomba.


Your role is to provide a safe hygienic environment for patients, staff and their visitors and to perform all tasks comfortably using manual handling techniques.

You will ensure stock & chemicals appropriately in locked cupboards and comply with Waste and Recycling Management Procedures Policy.


A Current Driver's Licence and willingness to use for work purpose travel as this is a a 24 hour, 7 day rotating roster.

An eligibility list may be created for future vacancies.

Selection criteria to be addressed:


  • Knowledge and experience of hospital or commercial cleaning procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, with all levels of staff, as well as patients and members of the public.
  • Ability to take the initiative and respond to changes in cleaning requirements with demonstrated ability & capacity to work independently and as part of a team with a commitment to customer service.
  • Demonstrated experience in cleaning using machines, microfiber resources and techniques for its use provided by hospital.
  • Knowledge of Infection Control procedures for cleaning.
  • An understanding of Work Place Safety (WH&S), Manual Handling and Equal Opportunity practices in the work place.
