The Role

Within the Administration function, an APS5 Administration Officer is accountable under limited direction to perform and achieve complex procedural, operational, administrative and business support work within an integrated workforce.


They are accountable to have and maintain a well-developed understanding of and compliance with relevant legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence's mission and policy requirements.


An APS5 Administration Officer will be accountable for organising their workflow and making independent decisions relating to their area of responsibility.

They will interpret and provide advice within the administration function based on legislation, policy and procedures.


They will undertake specialist research and analysis, conduct reviews, assessments and perform procedural, clerical, administrative support work to achieve results.


About Our Team

The key objective of the MCDSPO is to acquire and sustain Mine Warfare, Clearance Diving and Hyperbaric assets so the ADF can fight and win in the Maritime environment.


The MCDSPO is responsible for the sustainment and through-life support of the Mine Hunter Coastal Vessels, Deployable Autonomous and Robotic Mine Warfare Systems, Sail Training Ship Young Endeavour, Mine Clearance Diving and Hyperbaric Systems, and General and Specialist Dive Equipment.


The Deployable Autonomous and Robotic Mine Warfare Systems includes a number systems such as the influence Mine Sweeping System comprised of Magnetic Dyads, Acoustic Generators and Unmanned Surface Vessels, Deployable Mine Counter Measures including Autonomous Underwater Vehicles, Mine Neutralisation System and a number of support boats.

These systems are sustained in a partnership with a number of industry partners with varied contracting arrangements.

The Office Manager is responsible to oversee administrative duties to ensure the unit operates effectively.

This includes but is not limited to recruitment administration, internal and external stakeholder liaison, compliance with legislative requirements as well as sensitive personnel issues.

This role also has staff management responsibilities.

However, one of the key attributes for the role is the ability to work well with others.
