Charterhouse are partnering with North Western Melbourne Primary Health Network based in Parkville, on the Manager, Mental Health & AOD.

This role will lead program management activities to support integrated and culturally safe responses for people with mental health and/or AOD concerns.

The work will include a focus on building stakeholder relationships, planning quality improvement initiatives with commissioned programs and working with colleagues to build capacity and understanding of mental health and AOD issues and needs.


You will have the opportunity to lead the planning, service development and commissioning of high quality, evidence based programs targeted at diverse populations within the north west Melbourne region.

Your focus will be to work collaboratively with teams across the organisation and external stakeholders to meet identified community needs.


About North Western Melbourne Primary Health Network


North Western Melbourne Primary Health Network (NWMPHN) is Victoria's largest independent, locally governed and run, not-for-profit PHN, dedicated to improving primary health care in the community.


What are PHNs?

PHNs have been established with two key objectives:

  • Increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of services for community members, particularly those at risk of poor health outcomes
  • Improving coordination of care to ensure people receive the right care in the right place, at the right time

A typical week may include:


  • Working with stakeholders, including services users, community representatives and services providers to build strong relationships and improve service models for equitable care and access
  • Ensuring commissioning activities are evidenced based, aligned to identified community needs and undertaken collaboratively with internal and external partners
  • Implementing sustainable project management approaches that are coordinated, accessible, culturally safe and personcentred
  • Supporting staff to manage the delivery of high quality services and work with the Director to support and maintain a positive workplace culture

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Tertiary qualifications in health, health service management or a related field
  • Experience leading and managing a team of staff in dynamic and changing environments while building effective relationships to deliver shared organisational outcomes
  • Highlevel project management, changemanagement, evaluation and problemsolving skills, strong written, verbal presentation and negotiation skills that can be applied in diverse settings
  • Success coordinating and managing multistakeholder projects or programs, including an ability to work effectively under pressure
  • Understanding of the primary mental health care and/or Alcohol and Other Drugs systems, with oversight of key policy drivers and reform directions
