The AEC has sites throughout Queensland and Northern Territory. Multi divisional sites are located at Maroochydore, North Lakes, Ipswich, Brisbane City, Gold Coast and Darwin. Each multi divisional site structure comprises a Manager (APS 6), and a number of staff ranging from APS 2 to APS 5 levels. The AEC also has a variety of single divisional sites located at Toowoomba, Dalby, Mt Isa, Maryborough, Bundaberg, Gladstone, Rockhampton, Mackay, Townsville and Cairns.
When an election is announced, staffing rapidly expands to deliver this significant logistical event. Managing high risk and large scale projects with increased pressure, media, public scrutiny, short time-frames, and multiple logistical activities that are dependent on each other are some aspects of a Federal Election. Tasks during the Election period are likely to require an increase in working hours due to delivering the electoral event. 

The APS 4 position will either cover the role of Project Officer or Enrolment Supervisor dependent on the needs of the location. The AEC is looking for a versatile person to undertake a range of more complex and challenging activities such as election project planning or enrolment and election management tasks. This role will provide first line supervision to a small team whose main function in non-election periods is to process enrolment forms and to provide quality assurance of the electoral roll. An Enrolment Supervisor will also complete more complex enrolment transactions and develop the expertise to deliver enrolment related training. If fulfilling the role as Project Officer, you will undertake projects and activities on behalf of the Site Manager and will be responsible for key election related activities.
 

Ability to effectively communicate, collaborate and negotiate with team members, business areas and stakeholders.

Experience in mentoring and training junior staff while demonstrating personal integrity and professionalism.

Strong written communication skills, with ability to write a variety of well-constructed content that is adapted to audience needs.

Research and analysis skills, with the ability to report on findings and contribute new ideas.

Proficiency in computer based project tools (Microsoft product suite of Project, Excel and PowerPoint), and the ability to quickly learn specialised systems and acquire relevant policy knowledge. 

Ability to coordinate solving complex problems, and case manage ongoing issues in accordance with relevant legislation and policies.

Ability to manage workflow allocation to more junior staff members and conduct quality assurance activities.
