ABOUT THE ROLE
This role is a permanent full-time position on a Monday-to-Friday basis. This role will be based at our head office in Perth. We understand and value the benefits flexibility brings and operate a hybrid work model (in the office and from home)


The Specialist Reporting & Consolidation will assist the Group Financial Reporting team in managing the Group's financial reporting requirements, including the creation of the Group's consolidated financial statements, managing South32's consolidation systems, and ensuring data integrity and compliance with accounting standards.

Reporting to Manager Financial Reporting other key responsibilities include, but aren't limited to:

  • An overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable development.
  • Support the preparation of the Group's halfyear and yearend external financial reports, including assisting with financial statement/note preparation, coordination, and review of inputs from other functions, managing deliverables to Risk and Audit Committee as well as Investor Relations and Corporate Affairs teams
  • Provide support in other financial reporting and accounting policy matters, including analysing accounting positions/ papers, implementing new accounting standards, providing guidance/training to local accounting teams and ad hoc project work (including acquisitions and divestments).
  • Assist with monthend consolidation processes and guide financial accounting teams in South Africa, Australia, Colombia, Brazil, and the USA with monthly and halfyearly accounting, reporting, and consolidation matters. Engage, upskill, and train financial accounting teams to support the integrity of financial data and ensure that issues are appropriately resolved.
  • Support the management and improvement of finance systems, processes, and controls to ensure the integrity of financial results, including supporting the Group's digital and optimization work program.

ABOUT YOU
You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

  • Minimum of 4 years in a similar role with resources industry experience preferred
  • Good understanding of accounting and reporting concepts, consolidation principles, and statutory reporting under IFRS/AASB
  • Selfdriven, high degree of attention to detail and strong customer service focus
  • Excellent communication and relationshipbuilding skills.
  • SAP system knowledge preferred.
  • Experience with multinational or large group companies preferred.

Qualifications for this position are:

  • Bachelor's degree + CA/CPA or equivalent accounting qualification
