Our Life InMotion team, part of the InMotion Group is seeking a Behaviour Support Practitioner or a motivated entry level Behaviour Support Practitioner to join our team in Wollongong, NSW.

This role can be full-time or a part-time arrangement minimum 3 days per week.


About us

InMotion Group is a multidisciplinary clinic that provides therapy services to the community. This role is based at our Wollongong clinic, and you will be part of our Life InMotion team which offers therapy services to adults and be part of our multidisciplinary team of Occupational Therapists, Speech Pathologists, Behaviour Support Practitioners and Psychologists.

You will provide positive behaviour support services to children and adults on the NDIS with a disability.

We are certified NDIS provider with a strong reputation for quality and results and have a skilled Allied Health team facilitating engagement between disciplines for complex clients.


About the Role


You will be working with our clients in the community, delivering behaviour support in home, at school, in supported accommodation and other community places, working with both adults and children.

You will conduct functional behaviour assessments to develop and implement behaviour support plans, interviewing clients and their support networks, conducting observations, analysing data, administering clinical assessments (within professional scope), developing & implementing strategies to engage people in meaningful activities, address quality of life issues, implementing risk assessment measures to keep people safe and free from harm.


Role Requirements
Qualifications in and/or prior experience in behaviour assessments, development of positive behaviour support plans, implementation of PBS plans

  • Registered as a Practitioner as per the NDIS Quality & Safeguards
  • Be able to undertake behaviour support assessments (including functional behavioural assessments) and to develop behaviour support plans that may contain the use of restrictive practices
  • Excellent report writing skills and time management skills
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Computer skills proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Valid Drivers Licence and car to use for work (KMs reimbursed)
  • NDIS Worker Check or willing to obtain
  • Working With Children's Check

Desirable but not essential:


  • Qualifications in Disability, Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology, Social Work or counselling
  • Excellent verbal communication skills able to build rapport, conduct interviews, administer questionnaires, negotiate, lead training for small groups.
  • Knowledge of Behaviour Support approaches, including functional behaviour assessment, development of positive behaviour support plans, and implementation.
  • An understanding of relevant policy and legislation relating to Behaviour Support and Restrictive Practices at a National and State/Territory level.
  • Experience working with individuals, families and children with a disability and with providing training & coaching to teams and supporters.
  • Ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders including individuals, families, support team, Local Area Coordinators, NDIA, the Office of the Public Guardian, government agencies and specialist support services.
  • Demonstrated experience working with complex behaviours and liaising with multiple parties/ services.
