1 Full Time 18-month Temporary role in Sydney

We are at the pointy end of industry supervision for the liquor, gaming, wagering, casino, and registered club sectors in NSW. About the Role

This is a deeply technical practice manager role in shaping up a capability-driven team comprising; Government Reporting and Enterprise Data; Data Science and Insights and Planning & Analytics.

The Practice Manager - Analytics, Planning and Enterprise Data will work both as a senior individual technical doer and contributor with technical delivery, while leading a small team of data engineers, data analysts and integration specialists. The role will strengthen and maintain the LGNSW Datawarehouse, while continuously improving data quality, reporting, dashboarding capability for the business.

You will have extensive technical leadership experience in data discovery, improving data quality, producing meaningful data and actionable insights that address the institution's transformative agendas.
You must be proficient in various data warehousing technologies, including ETL tools, SQL databases, and data modelling techniques.
You will have experience and the ability to lead and oversee team member work and get one's hands dirty as a doer (not just a people manager) in applying programming languages such as SQL and Python and experience in technology stacks incl. Snowflake, Python, Power BI.
You will possess strong Analytical Skills to identify patterns and insights from large and complex data sets.
You have demonstrated experience in vendor management
You must have communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross functional teams including business analysts, data warehouse engineers and data extraction / reporting staff that use Power BI etc.
You will have demonstrated proficiency with Kanban boards, ticketing systems, code repository tools and building knowledge bases and thorough up-to-date documentation (using e.g., Confluence, Azure DevOps, SharePoint sites etc.).
Bachelor's or master's degree in IT, computer science, data science, or a related field.
Appointment and ongoing assignment are subject to satisfactorily meeting the integrity standards set out in section 14 of the Gaming and Liquor Administration Act 2007, including satisfactory participation in mandatory pre-employment and ongoing probity screening, in accordance with relevant legislation and/or related policies.
