Our client is a government department responsible for biological, chemical, legal, physical and trade measurement, with a vision is to provide measurement policy, science and regulation that underpins the economy and well-being of Australia.

Their Analytical Services Branch conducts chemical and biological measurement on a wide range of samples which includes water, soil, food and pharmaceuticals.

They currently have a casual role available for an Analyst to prepare samples for trace elements and other inorganic analysis in their Inorganics Laboratory in Northern Sydney

Duties Include:

Sample preparation of environmental and food/biota samples to allow trace elements analysis using ICPMS/ICPOES and CV-AFS instruments.
Preparing batch QC samples as per their documented method and Quality Manual.
Working within a team environment, prioritising work to achieve targeted turnaround times of results.
Understanding and following their WH&S manual and safety SOPs particular to the Inorganic laboratory.

Ideally you will have:

Tertiary qualifications in science, ideally chemistry or biology.
Knowledge of, or experience with sample preparation for trace elements within an analytical or food testing laboratory.
Knowledge of good laboratory practice within a NATA accredited laboratory.
A strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask.
The ability to work under mínimal supervision and be selfdriven.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
