What's the role?


We are a new team within News Corp Australia adopting a startup approach to disrupt the digital media and comparison markets.

Our ambition is to be the #1 destination for consumers to compare products on financial wellbeing decisions and generate quality leads for businesses across several categories.


Reporting to the Head of Growth, as the SEO Manager you will play a key role in creating and implementing best-in-class organic search strategies supporting our Lead Generation and Comparison services.


You will create and evolve the SEO strategy, leading our thinking in terms of technical SEO, link building and organic content (in conjunction with the Content team), and leveraging SEO activities with content marketing, social media marketing and other initiatives with the goal to maximise quality traffic and leads for clients.


Key accountabilities for the role include:

  • Overall responsibility for SEO outcomes
  • Collaborate with product and tech teams to ensure search engine optimisation best practices are followed
  • You'll be the team's 'go to' resource. You'll facilitate new ways of working and explore and innovate with new trends
  • Review and analyse site for areas that can be improved and optimised
  • Conduct indepth keyword research, manage keyword rank tracking and reporting to drive the most valuable traffic, including competitors
  • Work closely with the Content team and the Product team to populate site and other content with effective SEO practices
  • Ability to execute link building activities
  • Identify, plan, and execute technical SEO recommendations for our brands including site architecture, site migrations, redesigns and indexing
  • Maintain uptodate, personal knowledge of SEO in line with industry trends
  • Maintaining high standards of SEO within the editorial teams by establishing good practices and habits. Monitoring GSC, GA, SEMrush and MOZ accounts for issues and anomalies.
  • Monitoring newly created pages for meeting our SEO criteria.
  • Maintenance, auditing & optimisation of existing pages.
  • Maintaining and improving our Schema markups.
  • Conducting regular SEO audits, competitive analysis, and gap analysis.
  • Regular reporting and presentations to communicate our results to the team and wider business.


This role can be based in either of Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne main office locations, working in a hybrid arrangement with three days in the office, and then other days working from home.


Who you are

  • Minimum four years of experience working in a similar position, inhouse or at a digital agency.
  • Proven track record of scaling a brand's organic traffic and able to tie SEO efforts to awareness, acquisition and revenue outcomes
  • Experience with industry tools (Moz, Ahrefs, SEMRush, Majestic, Google Search Console, ScreamingFrog, etc)
  • Experience with analytics platforms like Google Analytics, Google Search Console and the Adobe Stack
  • Measuring all aspects of SEO performance and partnering with crossfunctional teams to turn data into insights and actions
  • Functional knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript
  • Excellent verbal and writing skills
  • Strong motivation and ability to work in a fastpaced environment
  • A robust understanding of search and Google algorithm updates
  • An indepth working knowledge of content SEO
  • Good understanding of technical SEO
  • Ability to coach and upskill inhouse content writers in SEO
  • Knowledge of financial services will be considered an asset
  • Strong analytical skills to make datadriven decisions for commercial and operational performance
