_Your new role_


This is a rare and exciting opportunity for an experienced water treatment professional to join FRW's team as a Treatment Plant Operator.


You will ensure effective and reliable monitoring and operation of supply and treatment infrastructure for both water and sewerage services throughout the Rockhampton region to ensure compliance with regulatory, environmental, safety and service level performance requirements.


In this busy and unique role, you will carry out inspections, maintain bulk water storages and supply systems assets, along with equipment checks and calibrations and regular routine housekeeping and maintenance at treatment plants.


This position requires the completion of a satisfactory Criminal History Check - Police Certificate (Australia Wide Name Only Police Check).

  • Demonstrated experience in a water and sewage treatment environment.
  • Hard working, independent, selfmotivated individual with a passion for the water treatment industry.
  • Knowledge of key water quality guidelines and regulatory requirements, the fundamentals of water and sewage treatment processes and drinking water supply systems.
  • A commitment to teamwork with the ability to work autonomously.
  • Ability to carry out plant inspections, equipment checks and calibrations and regular routine housekeeping and maintenance at treatment plants.
  • Ability to contribute to and uphold Council's Safety-First culture.
  • Ability to work after hours, be oncall and/or attend to callouts if required.

Application Criteria

  • Certificate III or higher in Water and/or Sewage Treatment Plant Operation (or related discipline) and experience as an operator of water and/or sewage treatment plants.
  • Extensive knowledge of key water quality guideline and regulatory requirements including NH&MRC and State Government administered documents and legislation.
  • Demonstrated ability to carry out plant inspections, equipment checks and calibrations of treatment plants, while ensuring you have a Safety-First approach.
  • Demonstrated ability to selfmanage, plan and prioritise effectively to work with minimum supervision, while still contributing to the team's overarching goals.
