Position Information:

Noumea Public School, located on Dharug land in north west Sydney, serves a diverse multicultural community.

Enrolment is currently 263, including 27% Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and a significant proportion of students from Pacific Islander backgrounds.


Teaching and learning, underpinned by quality curriculum implementation, is the school's focus, with students supported to participate in extracurricular activities including cultural dance and environmental projects to enhance their sense of connection and belonging.


High Impact Professional Learning, with a focus on Reciprocal Teaching, has supported consistent pedagogical practices and driven improved outcomes over several years.

The current Strategic Improvement Plan includes initiatives centred on effective classroom practice in reading and numeracy, implementing a planned approach to wellbeing, and improving student attendance.

As a Cohort B school, a new Strategic Improvement Plan will be developed early in 2024.


Staff members are committed to working in strong partnership with community and educational partners to ensure that every student is truly known, valued and cared for.

  • A highly visible, approachable, transparent, and culturally inclusive school leader able to embed a planned approach to student wellbeing which enables students to connect, succeed and thrive.
  • Outstanding knowledge of the NSW Curriculum with commitment to quality teaching and learning using evidence informed pedagogical approaches that support a culture of high expectations and lead to student growth in literacy and numeracy.
  • Demonstrated capacity to engage positively with parents and carers as partners in education and understand, build and sustain strong, authentic partnerships with diverse communities to develop a strong sense of belonging and a positive school culture for all.
  • Effective internal communication, with the ability to generate and listen to innovative ideas, embrace collaborative professionalism, and support staff members through periods of change.

General Selection Criteria:


  • High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education
  • Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs
  • High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community
  • Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning
  • Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning
  • Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policies and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people
