We currently have permanent part time opportunities available in Brighton North and Southern suburbs
.

What the role involves:

Opportunities are available for passionate Disability Support Workers to join the Minda team in our Supported Independent Living Services.

The main purpose of the role is to provide support to people with intellectual disabilities and to maximise choice and inclusion to achieve their aspirations and goals, optimising a person-centred approach.


Duties and responsibilities include:


  • Engaging personcentred active support in areas such as emotional behaviour, education, cooking, and domestic duties
  • Planning and executing activities for the participants
  • Ensure the effective communication is always maintained with all stakeholders
  • Adapt service delivery and support as appropriate to meet participant needs and preferences
  • Encouraging clients to make choices and decisions about all aspects of their life
  • Work collaboratively with others to ensure a consistent approach to service delivery, which empowers participants to be involved in decision making and choice

Qualifications
The following qualifications and certifications are essential prior to you applying:

  • NDIS Worker Screening Check (or Valid DHS Disability Screening)
  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module
  • Current Full Australian Driver's Licence
  • Right to work documents (Visa, Citizenship Certificate, Passport, Birth Certificate)
  • Current First Aid/CPR
  • Certificate III or higher in Disability or equivalent (Individual Support, Disability Services, Aging Care and/or Community Services).
  • Medication Competency (Learning Simplified
  • Administer Medication)

Attributes

To be successful in the role you will:

  • Be energetic, positive, and caring
  • Be able to commit to a 7day rotating roster, across a variety of shifts
  • Have experience supporting people with a disability utilising a professional and empathetic approach
  • Possesses a good understanding of the NDIS Framework
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills both written and verbal
  • Have experience with administering medication and completing all documentation
