About the role


Australia's highest selling weekly magazine is on the lookout for an Editor to take the helm for a 12-month parental leave contract.

We're looking for someone with a passion for magazines and the drive and dedication required to continue to spearhead one of the country's most iconic publications into the future.


The Editor will work alongside the Editorial Director and with relevant internal stakeholders to drive the strategic vision of this brand and seek out commercial opportunities.

This comes at an incredibly exciting time for the brand, as focus continues to grow on building its audience and reputation online.


You'll be joining a hybrid workplace with the opportunity to balance a fun and collaborative office environment with remote working.

Tasked with the job of giving our readers the perfect balance of information and escapism that they crave each week, you'll not only live and breathe celebrity gossip and royal news, but you'll be obsessed with all things Aussie television, food, health and wellness.


We're looking for someone with exceptional leadership skills, who will mentor and inspire what is a talented and highly experienced team.

You'll be a critical thinker and able to work in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment, all while producing the best quality content week in, week out, and putting our readers at the forefront of every decision made.


Duties

  • Drive the vision and strategic direction of the magazine, using current trends, reader insights and sales results to ensure content always speaks to the unique audience.
  • Develop and maintain an ongoing cover strategy that promotes variety, ensures regular engagement from readers and ultimately drives circulation and brand awareness.
  • Build and maintain a balanced and effective team to create the best possible product, and lead that team to achieve optimum results both collaboratively and individually.
  • Be responsible for a clear and effective workflow that ensures best practice publication of the product each week.
  • Collaborate with and provide support to internal stakeholders, including marketing, advertising and digital teams, as well as fellow editors, with the view of driving the commercial success of the brand.

Skills and experience

  • Minimum 5 years' experience on a celebrity magazine, website or related industry, with at least 2 years' experience in a senior leadership role
  • Strong leadership skills with a desire to help others around you grow
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to deal with a fast paced, changing environment and tight deadlines
  • Professional, mature and decisive in approach
