The Opportunity

This role will manage the daily operation of multiple responsibilities in a high-speed, high-volume manufacturing environment. You will be responsible for the development and implementation of activities in their area(s) to meet safety, quality, and production design goals in addition to cost objectives and promoting a strong team atmosphere.

This role will suit someone who is happy to commit to a rotating roster working 2 day and 2 night 12 hour shifts per week, then 4 days off. You must be flexible in working hours, including weekends, nights, and public holidays.
Key Responsibilities

Supervising the performance of a large team of Operators to meet production targets and ensure adherence to the Hardie Manufacturing Operating System (HMOS), Quality, Safety and Standard Work Operating Procedures
Managing the workforce plan of assigned teams to ensure manning coverage
Comply with relevant Quality Standards, Product Specifications, Policies and Procedures
Ensuring all employees are properly trained on quality specifications and are accurately using testing equipment, interpret work instructions and Product Specifications
Investigate causes of quality deviations
Lead, motivate and engage team members by applying effective people management processes and practices, utilizing Hardie Achieve where required.
Conduct team member assessments of competence against job standards and criteria using the Hardie Performance Management System
Conduct regular training needs analysis to ensure skills gaps are identified and operator bench strength and succession is planned for.
Build and promote a positive and efficient team environment through recognition
Complete administrative tasks in an accurate and timely manner
Focus on the continuous improvement of systems and processes through HMOS

About you

Tertiary qualifications in engineering or trade preferrable
Experience from fibre cement manufacturing plants with similar team leader operations roles
Knowledge and experience working within a 24/7 manufacturing environment
Demonstrated experience in leading, coaching and managing teams to meet objectives
Strong planning and problem-solving skills including the ability to priorities and manage multiple tasks
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain productive relationships with the team and management.
Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft suite
Exposure to manufacturing management systems
Exposure to Employee Relations or an Industrialized Environment.
