Qualifications & Experience

You Have:

  • A practical understanding of the NDIA policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of the rules relating to participant planning and reasonable and necessary supports
  • Good practical and theoretical knowledge of working with people with severe and enduring disabilities along with complex and multiple care needs.
  • Minimum of certificate IV in Mental Health or Mental Health peer work or similar training and/or 2 years paid experience in supporting people with Mental Health challenges.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop relationships with service providers, NDIS planners, Plan Managers, and public service personnel in dealing with participants needs.
  • Experience in one or more of: Support Coordination, Support Connection, Local Area Coordination, NDIA Planning, Mental Health, Welfare worker, Developmental Educator, Counsellor, or Psychologist
  • Experience in service delivery and design for people with complex needs
  • Experience in evidence based written documentation and verbal communication
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a clientfocused environment, to build client capacity and to provide choice and control within their NDIS plans.
  • Experience with psychosocial disabilities will be viewed favourably
  • Qualifications in Psychology or Mental Health and surrounding fields will be viewed favourably

The Role:


  • Provide support to clients based on their NDIA plan, implementing all supports within the client's plan including formal, mainstream, and funded supports.
  • Use a strengthsbased approach when working with clients to establish a Support Plan with the client and other relevant stakeholders
  • Build effective relationships with clients and their families while maintaining appropriate and professional boundaries
  • Manage client issues and complaints with respect and fairness whilst following ARKWAYS policies and procedures
  • Ensure regular contact is maintained and recorded
  • Maintain a working log of all contacts with clients, families/carers, and support services within a database.
  • Prioritise, manage and administer a caseload / task in a coordinated, efficient and timely manner.
  • Ensure that information on relevant community resources is available to clients and that appropriate referrals are made and followed up.
  • Be aware of and ensure all ARKWAYS policy, procedures and guidelines are adhered to including OH&S.
  • Active engagement in professional development activities and relevant committees identified through supervision sessions.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with other Disability services and Mental Health services, other nongovernment agencies and the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA).
  • Demonstrates ARKWAYS mission, vision, and code of conduct at all times.
  • Proven experience working with people with autism, disability and / or mental illness.

To be successful in the role, you will need:

  • Demonstrated experience as a Support Coordinator
  • Good understanding of NDIS legislation and guidelines, price guide and how they are applied.
  • Certificate IV in Mental Health or Mental Health peer work or similar training and/or 2 years paid experience in supporting people with Mental Health challenges.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Dedicated commitment to supporting and improving outcomes for participants
  • NDIS Worker Screening Clearance
  • NDIS Workers Orientation Certificate
  • Current and valid Victoria Police check
  • Current and valid Working with Children Check
  • Current and valid working visa in Australia
  • Hold or willing to obtain First Aid and CPR
  • Valid Victorian driving licence and appropriate fully insured car.

Job Type:
Part-time

Part-time hours: 22.5 per week


Salary:
$ $37.50 per hour
