Role:


  • Schools Workforce Group provides support and strengthens our schools workforce and, importantly drives the recruitment approach for new school workforce staff who will be joining the government school system.


Schools Human Resources Division (SHRD) provides school workforce supply and demand strategies and initiatives, supports the attraction and retention of teachers in Victorian government schools, provides high quality school HR and recruitment services, and provides policy and employee relations advice.


Schools Human Resource Division:
supports the Schools workforce and provides consultancy services and client support in the areas of payroll and staff administration, recruitment and HR data analysis and reporting

provides HR services of recruitment, payroll and reporting support to external clients.

The following requirements are unique to roles within Schools HR Services Branch:

  • knowledge of and adherence to the department's zero tolerance approach to fraudulent and corrupt conduct as it may relate to human resources policies and practices, including personal vigilance and prompt escalation of issues that may require attention and/or follow up
- knowledge of and adherence to the departments Information privacy policy as it relates to human resource policies and practices including escalation of issues that may require action

  • It is expected that SHRD staff actively seek opportunities for professional learning and development and that they incorporate these learnings into their daily work as a way of optimising performance and motivating others
  • Attendance
  • This role is based in Melbourne CBD, Level 8, 35 Collins Street. The attendance is required throughout the year. The successful applicant will be paid leave purchase allowance and will have four weeks of annual leave to be taken as agreed with the manager.

Relies on formal and informal communication channels to achieve goals and engages stakeholders to help them identify areas and opportunities for improvement. Focuses on understanding stakeholder issues. Initiates and maintains effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders at peer or senior levels.

  • Uses specialist HR knowledge including learning and development to promote policies and professional concepts. Models high level leadership attributes. Modifies and applies concepts to new situations that may impact beyond the immediate work area.

Policy and Projects:


  • Manages and leads projects. Develops briefs on highly complex issues that provide options for discussion and consideration and will contribute to the development of a set of final options for decision. Advocates policy options.

Operational Service Delivery:


  • Manages crossfunctional delivery within HR services to teaching service employees. Develops service plans and delivery standards for the area of responsibility. Provides specialist HR services or advice, including leadership and guidance to other specialists in the field.
