Summary:


The Operational Manager, Australian Public Infrastructure is responsible for the planning, staffing, control, business development and management of the organization's or area's projects.

Ensures the efficient utilization of division area or other Bechtel resources towards profitable project performance.


About the role:


  • Provides management guidance and monitors the performance of projects and operations in the assigned area

Specific responsibilities may include:

  • Overseeing engineering, procurement and construction activities.
  • Reviewing and approving project plans, cost estimates, budgets and schedules.
  • Provides direction. administrative guidance and services to area project offices and all organization operations in the area. May provide services to other organizations on a subcontract basis and lend support in proposal preparation and construction management.
  • Directs assistant managers of operations, project managers and resident managers to ensure that projects are properly serviced and that all project communications are promptly handled.
  • Supports the business development effort through: advising Division/Special Operation management of new job opportunities assisting in the job cost estimating; negotiating with prospective clients and providing needed technical expertise during the proposal review stage
  • Reviews and approves proposals and contractual commitments on current and new projects.
  • May direct the manager of construction in providing construction expertise in the planning of new projects, the management of construction personnel. and the resolution of project construction problems.
  • Personally, assists and advises other groups and division operations as requested. Recommends and overviews staffing charges as required.

What you bring:

Thorough knowledge of construction, engineering, procurement and other project related activities, their interfaces and interdependencies. Broad general experience and education; rotation through and exposure to several departments.


Proficiency and experience in:

  • Project Management
  • Construction and engineering management Staffing, estimating and budgeting d scheduling, Business development
  • Administration and management

Qualifications and Experience:


  • Minimum of Bachelors' degree in engineering, business, or associated discipline
  • Minimum 15 years' experience in construction and construction management
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in estimating/project controls
