Position Information:

St Ives High School is a comprehensive coeducational high school with a current enrolment in excess of 1730 students.

Thirty-two percent of students are from non-English speaking backgrounds and the gender balance is approximately fifty-seven percent boys and forty-three percent girls.

The school has a Hearing Support Unit, an Intensive English Centre, a long-running gifted and talented program valued by the school community and a substantial learning and support program also valued by the community.

The school runs a BYOD program that enables extensive online learning delivery.

There have been significant advances in infrastructure in recent years resulting in improved teaching and learning facilities including a new gym which is about to be extended in a joint project with Ku-ring-gai Council.

The school's curriculum structure is based on KLAs and the school runs a substantial student wellbeing program.

There is a mix of early career and experienced teachers who have played a significant role in improved HSC results in recent years.

The school has an active, supportive and highly engaged P&C and the community has high expectations for student involvement and achievement.


Selection Criteria:

In addition to the general selection criteria,

  • Demonstrated capacity to lead and support outstanding curriculum delivery that is relevant, purposeful and focused on strong student outcomes.
  • Proven capacity to be a highly visible, collaborative and consultative member of the Executive Leadership Team, leading and supporting initiatives that enhance teacher capacity and nurture positive relationships with students, parents and the wider community.
  • Demonstrated ability to support the wellbeing of students through proactive initiatives that encourage positive, learningfocused behaviour and foster a harmonious school.
  • Creative problemsolving skills and experience in managing complex organizational structures in line with school priorities

General Selection Criteria:


  • Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
  • Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
  • Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
  • Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
  • Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies

Conditions:

It is anticipated that this position will commence on Day 1 Term 1 of the 2024 school year
