Our Journey
The South Eastern Centre Against Sexual Assault and Family Violence (SECASA), is a program of Monash Health and has the responsibility in the Southern Region of the Department of Families Fairness and Housing for:

  • The provision and development of effective services to victim/survivors and associated people affected by sexual assault and family violence
  • The provision and development of effective services for adolescents exhibiting sexually abusive behaviours
  • The provision of public education and professional training on sexual assault and antiviolence issues
  • Social planning and processes related to reducing societal violence

A Day in the Life


As a Grade 3 Clinical lead you will use use highly specialised knowledge of theories and evidence to assist patients/consumers, families and/or carers/significant others with psychosocial support and advocacy through psychosocial assessment, intervention, counselling, discharge planning, information provision and facilitates access to community services.


What you bring:


  • An ability to ork independently within approved scope of practice to provide safe, evidencebased assessment, outcome measures, therapeutic care and/or discharge planning according to organisational policies and procedures in order to achieve optimal care
  • Provide high levels of specialist knowledge, advice or guidance to other clinicians to support safe and effective consumercentred care
  • Lead/oversee highperforming clinical teams, and provide expert advice on clinical issues as required
  • Work collaboratively with consumers, their families and/or significant others and other stakeholders to establish a patient/client focused multidisciplinary management plan, consistent with currently accepted professional standards of practice and evidenced based practice
  • Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to deliver safe consumerfocused care, providing high levels of specialist knowledge
  • Using high levels of specialist clinical reasoning, lead others to prioritise and fairly distribute workloads in collaboration with the team as required
  • Evaluates the distribution of workloads, developing systems that respond to changes in clinical demands as required
  • Ensure timely and responsive management of fluctuating referrals and waitlists as required, liaising with stakeholders to facilitate seamless healthcare to consumers
  • Demonstrated extensive clinical experience working with and responding to complex trauma related to sexual assault and/or family violence
  • Crisis intervention skills necessary for supporting people who have experienced sexual assault and/or family violence
  • Experience working with clients with trauma related to sexual assault and/or family violence
  • Have worked collaboratively with other professionals and agencies to enhance wellbeing and safety for clients
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and experience in preparing written reports for therapeutic and legal purposes
  • Excellent team work, interpersonal and communication skills, including building trust and rapport with colleagues and delivery of commitments

What you need:

Social Work

  • An Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) accredited Bachelor Degree or entry level Master's Degree of Social Work that provides eligibility for membership of the AASW
  • Written evidence of eligibility of AASW membership for overseas qualifications
  • Minimum of seven years' experience as a qualified social worker
  • Accredited Social Worker: As approved by the AASW
  • Desirable_
  • Completion of a postgraduate qualification in a relevant field or working towards such a qualification
OR

Psychology

  • Current general registration as a psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA) AHPRA
  • A minimum of five years' experience as a generally registered psychologist
  • Having or working towards supervisor endorsement with the Psychology Board of Australia (AHPRA)
  • Appropriate postgraduate qualifications (Masters or Doctoral Degree) in counselling, clinical or forensic psychology in an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) accredited course.
  • Evidence of participation in clinical research activities
  • Desirable_
  • Post graduate qualifications in a relevant field or working towards same.
