OUR PHILOSOPHY


Problematic Behaviour Support Services (PBSS) specialise in addressing risky and problem behaviours through conducting forensic and clinical assessments, developing, and implementing behaviour support plans, and providing individual and group-based intervention to people with cognitive impairment in prisons and the community.

Founded in 2020 by two forensic psychologists with a shared vision of behaviour change being essential to community safety, we're now a team of more than 20 Clinicians, Consultants and Administrators who are ready to welcome new clinicians into our PBSS Team


PBSS provide forensic assessment, therapeutic services and behaviour support to people of all ages who display challenging and risky behaviour, and present with some form of cognitive impairment.


Our dedicated Forensic Clinicians provide comprehensive and evidence-based services to individuals with cognitive impairment, who display challenging behaviours and pose a risk of harm to themselves or the community.


The role will involve conducting clinical and forensic risk assessments, and developing and delivering behaviour change interventions to clients, while flexibly adapting therapeutic knowledge and plans into practical risk mitigation/behaviour management plans for use with a range of professionals working with the client.


We also provide training, support and psychoeducation to families, carers and staff, to ensure we're truly facilitating the best to create a more prosocial and meaningful life.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide direct services to clients with challenging behaviours, communication difficulties, and/or mental health issues
  • Utilise evidencebased interventions and best practices to teach, support, and promote positive behaviour change
  • Track and document the progress of clients
  • Maintain patient confidentiality
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and individual case consultations
  • Collaborate with school staff, families, and community agencies
  • Provide crisis intervention, as needed
  • Provide training to support staff as required
  • Develop and implement behaviour support plans

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

  • Bachelor's Degree in psychology, social work, or a related field
  • Provisional and registered psychologists, occupational therapists and social workers are strongly encouraged to apply
  • Knowledge of principles, strategies, and techniques related to behavioural and mental health services
  • Experience working with clients with challenging behaviours, communication difficulties, and/or mental health issues
  • Ability to maintain composure during stressful or crisis situations
  • Excellent communication, problemsolving, and organisational skills
FOR THE RIGHT CANDIDATE, WE CAN OFFER
- $70k-$95k per annum, salary commensurate with experience

Salary:
$70, $95,000.00 per year
