Purpose of Position


The DC Manager will be responsible for managing the procurement function for the Multi-branded Spare Parts business within the Australian Distribution Centre (AUDC).

This includes ultimate responsibility for the profitability of the AUDC.

Day to day, the DC Manager will be responsible for:

  • Managing the direct procurement for the spare parts business both independently and through corporate interaction.
  • Managing the day to day Spare Parts business from enquiry to invoice, including managing the warehouse function and marketing the Spare Parts business through literature, presentations, pricelists and frontline training of the spare parts portal.
  • Visiting front line service operations and promoting continuous improvement initiatives to assist the business to become more efficient
  • Proactively promoting and developing the sales and support activities of our spare parts business.
  • Managing all Service Centre procurement activities, in close liaison with the Service Centre Managers of Konecranes.
  • Identifying and realising efficiency gains through the use of world class business process techniques and continuous improvement.
  • Assisting with negotiations, management and implementation of, regional and local product contracts.
  • Implemented targeted action to ensure the ongoing growth of the spare part business.
  • Ongoing management and development of the supply chain.
  • Budgeting and forecasting, ensuring targets are met.
  • Negotiating spare part prices with the supply chain.
  • Ongoing consultation and collaboration with the Operations Manager to ensure accurate spare parts pricing and adequate margins are maintained.
  • Negotiating or assisting with the negotiations and stabilisation of pricing for fixed periods of time.
  • Consolidating purchasing requirements to control costs.
  • Actively mentoring, coaching and developing the AUDC personnel team.

Working Relationships

  • Work closely with the Service Operations Manager, Branch Manager and National Sales team in identifying new customers and business opportunities.
  • Daily engagement with the AUDC Team including the procurement and warehouse team.
  • Active member of the global Spare Parts team in order to develop and implement the defined Spare Parts Strategy
  • Finance team for account related items
  • Work with all Konecranes and Demag Business units and Business Areas as and when required.

  • Ensure that Konecranes and Demag Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality processes are followed.
  • Ensure that Konecranes and Demag systems, tools and processes are followed.
  • Actively network to build relationships with key people within the organisation including the front line
  • Actively engage in training programs, both nationally and internationally.
  • Proactively engage with employees promoting Konecranes and Demag as an employer of choice.
  • Ensure that the Konecranes and Demag brand is communicated consistently and in accordance with the Company's Brand Manual, expectations and values.

Specialised requirements - Qualifications/licences:


  • MBA or equivalent tertiary qualification in a Business related discipline required
  • Minimum 510 years' experience managing a DC operation with specific P&L responsibility
  • Ability to work with computer programs:
  • SAP, Outlook, Excel, Word, Project and PowerPoint.
  • Previous experience working with/ using CRM
  • Indepth knowledge of Konecranes and Demag Service Products beneficial
  • Demonstrated high degree of organisational ability.
  • Possesses excellent customer relations skills (internal and external) with advanced communication skills
  • Strong analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to effectively and productively engage with colleagues and other stakeholders.

In the absence of the Service Operations Manager, Pacific, the delegation of authority will be the VP Service, Pacific
