The Role
The TPS is looking for a self-motivated, proactive person to join our team. You will work to support the TPS Director in delivery of consumer protections for international and eligible domestic students. You will have excellent communication, representational and relationship management skills, display strong leadership, and have a practical, outcome-focussed mindset.
Working across both domestic and international education cohorts, the role provides a unique insight into the Australian education sector. We offer a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
The Tuition Protection Service (TPS) supports both the international and domestic education systems to provide placement and refund/re-credit support to students affected by an education provider not commencing or ceasing to deliver their course of study.
The TPS manages the Overseas Students Tuition Fund, Higher Education Tuition Protection Fund and VSL Tuition Protection Fund including collection of the annual TPS levies.
The team provides support to the TPS Director (a statutory office holder) and high-level secretariat services to the TPS Advisory Board in the development of the annual TPS levy risk settings.
The role focuses on supporting the needs of international and domestic students, education providers from the schools and tertiary education sectors, and the Commonwealth Ombudsman.
The role works closely with regulators, education providers, students and education agents as well as policy, operational and corporate areas within the Department of Education and Department of Employment, and Workplace Relations.
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities of the Executive Level 2 may include:
- Leading a small to medium sized team within the Tuition Protection Services Branch.
- Fostering a performance culture by supporting career development, coaching and mentoring staff as required.
- Providing strategic planning, high level policy advice, program management and program delivery
- Developing and maintaining collaborative working relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
- Maintaining a sound working knowledge of relevant legislative, policy and procedural frameworks, ensuring team members are aware of and operate within these frameworks.
- Communicating technical information to key stakeholders, including providing regular program reporting, ministerial and Senate Estimates briefs, and responses to other requests for information.
