WHMI operates across 3 of the 4 Western Health campuses located at Western Hospital Footscray, Sunshine/Joan Kirner Hospital and Williamstown Hospital.

WHMI services include Computer Tomography (CT), Fluoroscopy, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Nuclear Medicine, Mammography, Interventional Radiology, Ultrasound and Digital X-ray.


About the Role
Western Health Medical Imaging seeks 1 Diagnostic Radiology Fellows for a full time 12 month period, commencing 5th February Part Time Applicants will be considered)


The role of the Fellow is to provide radiological diagnosis, assist with procedural cases and clinical management of patients and undertake administrative duties for the Unit under the guidance and direction of the Department Head of Unit and Director of Radiology Training or Consultant Staff.


  • Body Imaging including experience in MRI liver, enterography, rectum, prostate, contrastenhanced ultrasound, CT colonography, upper and lower GI, urology. High end MDTs and experience in advanced Tier A interventional procedures including a range of deep organ biopsies.
  • Chest Imaging: Respiratory and lung cancer MDTs, cardiac CT with option for level A accreditation, advanced Tier A interventional procedures including tertiary level lung biopsy service.
  • Neurological and musculoskeletal imaging experience in brain, head and neck, musculoskeletal (including paediatric) and spine MRI across 1.5 and 3T systems and multimodality (US, CT, fluoroscopicguided) musculoskeletal intervention.

Job Plan:
Core clinical work (sessions per week)


  • 7 sessions in area of subspecialty
  • 2 general sessions (CT/US/Fluoro/XR)
  • 1 academic session
  • Relevant Multidisciplinary/Clinical meetings access to distilled pathology and highend, clinically challenging cases with development of skills in presenting findings to senior clinicians
  • Coordinate and participate in the teaching of junior doctors and medical students
  • Participating in evening and weekend shifts
  • After hours: 2 weeks of night shift (7 days on / 7 days off) and evening and weekend shifts as per fellow roster

About You:


  • Completion of Medical Degree (MBBS) or equivalent
  • Hold current or eligible for medical registration with AHPRA
  • Passed all Part II FRANZCR requirements or equivalent
