The Opportunity:


If you've been looking for an interesting technical challenge to create something new and ensure it works in the real world this, is it.

This is a newly created role to help refine a classification structure for a $2.5 billion program. They have recently run a 2,000 person trial and they are about to increase this 10x.


The goal is to reduce program complexity, and increase value for money via better matching funding to needs whilst considering risk-proportionate regulation.


The analytical team you will be joining does a range of interesting data work including modelling and analysis on aspects such as pricing, program costings, demand modelling, and consideration of program cost containment options.


  • Help shape and refine a new pilot classification model impacting a multi billion $ program
  • Modelling a very technically (quantitative) challenging reform whilst ensuring it is practical in the real world
  • Be part of an analytically advanced small team of five
  • Reporting to a technically excellent EL2 who has both Big 4 and government experience. Their key skill is in quantitative modelling
  • Clear line of sight for the positive impact your work is doing in the real world to millions of Australians
  • Diverse role across analysis, modelling, statistics and engagement
  • Flexibility to WFH up to 3 days per week once you are established

The Role:

You will lead the ongoing development of the new classification system.


To do this you will:

  • Use Excel and/or statistical software to analyse existing datasets of client's characteristics and service requirements
  • Consider new classifications or groupings that could be used to classify users of the new program
  • Conduct supplementary research to refine the classification structure
  • Liaise with industry (clinical experts) to test the clinical suitability of the classification structure
  • Liaise with consultancies as they build the new model

The Ideal Person:


This role will suit you as an experienced operator who can work autonomously as you will need to carry this piece of work.

You know when 80% >99.9% accuracy will do for models to meet real world requirements.

You have advanced analytical skills (particularly in quantitative, statistics and/or modelling which includes managing and analysing raw data, and large data sets. They are flexible with the analytical tool you want to use across R, SAS, Python and Excel. You can synthesise findings from data analysis and communicate these findings to senior executives. You likely have experience working with or managing consultancies.

You must be an Australian citizen and have a minimum Baseline clearance, or the ability to obtain one.


Salary / Rate:

- $90/hr - $130/hr + Super

  • Initial contract to 30th June 2023 with a high likelihood of extension
