We have a fantastic new full-time opportunity as a Head of Merchandising Solutions in the Woolworths Merchandising and Customer Value (MCV) team, based in Sydney.

As the Head of Merchandising Solutions you will be responsible for developing and driving the E2E strategic vision for our Solutions Roadmap.

As well as driving engagement and adoption across all of Commercial. By working closely with the Micro, Macro Space, Category Development, Pricing & Customer Value & Commercial teams, you will be accountable for delivering great user experiences for our customers and team, while driving the right commercial outcomes for our business and continuous improvement and innovation to meet the ever changing needs of our customers and keeping pace with the ever-evolving retail technology environment

You will be responsible for leading a small group of dedicated and 'pooled' resources (incl. Product owners, Business owners & data scientists/ engineers) who are responsible for inputting into the Solutions roadmap vision and building, maintaining, supporting and enhancing many of our core solutions on behalf of MCV Merch functions.

Lastly, as part of leading this team you will also be accountable for establishing and running a MCV Solutions Community of Practice - focused on nurturing & developing best in class Solutions professionals and embedding best practices across Merch functions in MCV.


The role will focus on Supermarkets and Metro, but will also require involvement with the broader Woolworths Group, as part of our ambition to embed shared capability & best practices, where appropriate.

**About you: - You will have 8+ years of relevant experience in business solution & product management and or merchandising/commercial roles. With an extensive knowledge of product ownership, project management methodologies & commercial transformation/ strategy experience to drive fit for purpose business tools & outcomes.

  • Willingness to learn, collaborate with a wider team and adapt with changing conditions
  • In addition to the above, you will have extensive experience implementing high profile and complex business projects with cross functional stakeholders in a large matrix organisation. Including experience leading successful and sustainable implementations of technical solutions and tools into large and varied business teams with previous product ownership experience.
  • This role requires someone with exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills and ability to influence key personnel at varying levels of the organisation.
  • You will also be an organised individual with analytical skills that enjoys planning, problem solving and have the ability to work through issues with complexity and guide others in the resolution of problems.
  • Exceptional leadership skills and experience in developing high performing category and/or delivery teams You have experience working in complex agile, matrix structures, with previous experience in leading a crossfunctional Chapter/ Guild advantageous
**Key responsibilities: - This role will see you lead the MCV (Merchandising and Customer Value) technological product strategic roadmap in collaboration with business units across the Woolworths Group.

  • Manage a crossfunctional & crossbanner squad of ~10+ individuals, across a broad range of roles including Product Owners, Business Owners, data engineers & data scientists, from both Woolworths & wiq, IT etc
  • You will be responsible for overseeing our investment and ongoing expenses on our tools and platforms and then embedding the new and evolving tools and platforms to elevate the capabilities and enablement of the commercial teams.
  • Once embedded, leading the team to optimize the fundamental purpose of a product tool, ensuring they are fit for purpose and delivered to time, budget & quality measures (with special focus on ease of use and outcome metrics).
  • Drive business buyin & cutthrough, to enable the delivery of fit for purpose solutions, whilst coowing the Commercialisation roadmap of new tools & capabilities with suppliers (in partnership with Buying teams & wiq)
  • In this position you will be required to successfully and sustainably deliver process and product changes across multiple business units in Supermarkets and Metro (including working with other parts of the business to ensure we have the right communication and training in place)
  • Maintain a competitive edge and support the achievement of market share objectives & metrics
