About the role
The following objectives for a Medical Scientist at the classification level of MeS3 are as follows:

  • Management of a quality, multi-disciplined pathology service provided in a regional laboratory, including specimen reception and associated collection centre network, and local courier services.
  • Demonstrate increased professional expertise, competence and experience to perform standard professional tasks within Regional Services.
  • Ensure laboratory and sites meets set KPI's and meets continued accreditation from NATA.
  • Demonstrate expertise obtained through appropriate professional development and operational experience.
  • Assist in training, professional development, performance reviews and supervision of technical, scientific and ancillary laboratory staff in routine tests and tasks. As required, contribute to teaching and research activities.
  • Travel requirements to maintain skills, competency and professional development.
  • Recruitment and retainment of multiskilled staff in a regional location(s).
  • Provide professional services to local client groups and key stakeholders and seek to expand private market share.

Qualifications

  • BAppSc (Med Lab Sc) or equivalent qualification accepted as suitable for full professional membership of an appropriate professional society (AIMS professional membership, HGSA full membership, ASC nonmedical membership, AACB
  • Associate Member, ASM professional membership.
  • Post Graduate qualifications in a relevant field.

Essential Requirements:


  • Current National Police Clearance (NPC)
