To assist in achieving this vision, we are seeking a VE teacher in Mental Health Peer Work to join Swinburne's Vocational Education team.


You will work collaboratively within a team of education professionals to plan deliver, assess, evaluate and ensure compliance of high-quality education and training programs.

This role requires our teachers to be able to customise and adapt our programs to meet our learners and clients' needs that vary from certificate level through to diploma and associate degree levels.


About you
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:

  • Be an experienced peer worker with lived experience of mental illness as a consumer or carer.
  • Experience in a Mental Health Peer Worker position for at least 1 year
  • Awareness of the current Mental Health Peer Work industry developments
  • Demonstrated ability to foster and promote an inclusive, customised and safe learning environment and provide support and advice to a diverse range of students and industry clients.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement high quality innovative teaching and learning programs in a variety of learning modes which respond to a diverse range of student learning needs.
  • Demonstrated awareness and understanding of Vocational Education and Training policies and frameworks.

Qualifications

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122)
OR

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116)
OR

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40110) including the following units:
o TAELLN411 Address adult language, literacy and numeracy skills or its successor, OR

o TAELLN401A Address adult language, literacy and numeracy skills


AND
o TAEASS502 Design and develop assessment tools or its successor, OR

o TAEASS502A Design and develop assessment tools OR

o TAEASS502B Design and develop assessment tools

OR

  • Diploma or higher level qualification in adult education
  • Relevant degree or vocational qualification in Mental Health Peer Work or related is desirable
