Your new role


As an Associate Lecturer, you will make significant contributions to teaching and research project supervision and will carry out activities to enhance and develop scholarly activities relevant to the discipline or profession.

You will develop an understanding of the student learning experience through a commitment to high quality, effective teaching practice. This includes the ability to incorporate research, scholarship and/or professional practice into teaching activities.


You will have a developing or successful research track record, in either agricultural science, or in the education of agriculture, that you are able to further develop within the role.

You will require current work rights in Australia that match the tenure of this role.

The School of Molecular and Life Sciences hosts the disciplines of Agriculture and Food, Chemistry and Ecology, each with strong education and research programs.

Courses are supported by research-led teaching and are dedicated to creating graduates with industry experience.

The school strives to act as a source of independent and expert advice to industry, government, and society, and to carry out research and development with particular relevance to the regional community.

The school is strengthening capacity in agriculture, food science and agribusiness, in part, by delivering education programs at the main Perth campus as well as the Muresk Institute (approx. 110 km east of Perth).

Selection criteria:


Essential Criteria

  • A PhD or equivalent in related discipline
  • Demonstrated ability to teach effectively as well as a commitment to reflective improvement in teaching delivery.
  • An understanding of pedagogical theory and contemporary educational practice relevant to the discipline.
  • Demonstrated willingness and ability to contribute to scholarship in teaching through participation in teaching and learning strategies and in professional development in higher education teaching.
  • Demonstrated high level communication, interpersonal and organisational skills with a commitment to the development of a collegial and supportive working environment and the ability to interact with students and staff with cross cultural sensitivity
  • Developing research success commensurate with experience level, including a growing record of peerreviewed publications in the discipline/field
  • Capacity to deliver teaching in the area of animal science and agricultural systems

Desired Criteria

  • Good industry linkages within the food and agribusiness industry
