Description
We're Cowry, the digital experiences team within Australian Payments Plus. Given we're relatively new here, let's start by introducing ourselves.

AP+ is a family of cornerstone businesses you'd know; BPAY, eftpos, NPP, and while you haven't heard of 'Cowry' you probably have heard of a little digital wallet with over 1.5M customers called Beem which is just one of the products powered by us.

Our team love to explore new ground and challenge the status quo in the pursuit of fintech excellence. We live at the intersection of next-generation technology and traditional payments infrastructure, launching products from the ground up. Our mission is pretty simple; keep Australian payments open, keep businesses thriving and go beyond money.

We're adding a Product Manager to our thriving Product team where you will get to make meaningful contributions to our mission for open payments and work with world class humans that know a thing or two about building and running top-notch payment tech.

Key Responsibilities
The primary focus of this role for the first 12-18 months is working on maturing our platforms. You'll be our second PM focussed on core platform delivery. These platforms underpin our open payments strategy and success.

  • Root cause analysis and proposing options that consider not only BE but also UX and FE
  • Strong collaboration skills, as you'll be working across multiple squads and peers across engineering, user experience and customer service primarily
  • Speaking of customer service you'll be working tightly with this team, understand the issues they're seeing, quantify it, identifying the root cause and working with engineering teams to solve
  • Strong documentation skills
More broadly, we'd love you to be a PM all-rounder who's up for working in our fast-paced environment.

Skills you'll have more generally are below:

  • Experience in Agile delivery, and using associated tools (Jira, Confluence)
  • Understand the market and competitive trends; monitor key industry developments
  • Drive customer research and translate insights into action
  • Identify and understand customer problems; prioritise features and tasks; build consensus around your product roadmap
  • Work with the UX Design team to build great endtoend user experiences; test and iterate
  • Craft clear Product Requirements and associated documentation, and translate these into user stories

Skills, Qualifications & Experience

  • 3+ years of experience in endtoend product management, with exposure to relevant technologies and tools, across the web and native mobile app product development
  • Bonus points if at least some of this experience is in payments, a startup environment, and/or if you've got experience in complex backend systems or payment stacks
  • Solid understanding of current best practices when it comes to the finer detail of what drives successful adoption and engagement
  • Proven ability to influence crossfunctional teams without formal authority; wellversed in stakeholder management
  • Strong planning and project management skills including a demonstrated ability to work to deadlines and juggle multiple projects
  • Strong analytical skills and ability for conceptual and strategic thinking
  • Ideal, but not a must have: a Bachelor's degree from an accredited educational institution (computer science, electrical engineering, business)

We strive to create an environment where every member of the team feels empowered to make a decision for the benefit of our customers.

At Cowry, a growth mindset is fundamental to success. We are obsessed with data. It's how we learn, ask better questions and improve. It allows us to take small bets, learn quickly (often by failing) and dust ourselves off.

We believe that to fully embrace experimentation and failure as part of learning, it requires a culture where everyone feels safe enough to push beyond their own fears.

You'll thrive in Cowry if:

  • You have an agile, entrepreneurial mindset & thrive in an environment where you can reimagine your contribution each and every day
  • The idea of working in a "startupesq" environment excites you (but you also sleep well at night knowing your job is secure)
  • You love to test the boundaries of your abilities and champion your colleagues to do the same
  • Your job title is just a point of reference for your LinkedIn profile, it doesn't define who you really are
  • You're curious at heart, always asking questions and looking for ways to improve
Cowry may not be the place for you if:

  • You thrive when working in a hierarchical "clunky" environment
  • Your job title means the world to you and defines who you are
  • You love to work in predefined silo's
  • To you, team & company culture is two dimensional

What Next?

For us, it's more important that you are a genuinely decent human, as we believe people can pick up any skill with the right support & mindset.

We consciously and intentionally hire
