The Opportunity


Come and discover the opportunity to join our
Plate Rolling Maintenance Team at our
Port Kembla Manufacturing facility as a
Mechanical Maintenance Technician.

As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio, we have six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers.


The Plate Rolling team converts steel slab products into plate by controlling the heating and cooling processes within the plant, to produce a range of plate products for our customers.

In this hands-on role, you will be an active team member supporting the maintenance of Plate Mill, so that we can continue manufacturing our world class products and solutions for our valued customers.

This is a permanent day shift position with a monthly RDO and an opportunity for overtime.


What Will You Do?
In a role that impacts the safety of our people as well as the quality and reliability of our equipment and products, you will:

  • support ongoing and efficient production through the maintenance of onsite equipment
- plan and organise for shutdowns
- demonstrate your mechanical expertise on many and varied Capital projects
- contribute to the team with out of hours support
- seek ways to continuously improve our maintenance strategies


More About You
As a career maintenance mechanic, you'll enjoy taking ownership for your work and contributing to the larger team


You will bring:
- mechanical fitter/machinist qualifications consisting of either a Certificate III, Certificate IV, or Diploma.
- experience in mechanics and automation in a heavy industrial environment
- proven exposure to maintenance management systems and basic computer skills
- an enthusiasm to learn new skills and develop yourself in the role
