The Role


As our resident Payroll & Benefits Advisor, you will be accountable for the best practice delivery of payroll and benefits operations within KBR's People & Culture Operations team.

You will drive superior outcomes for our business and our people.


With support from the People & Culture Operations team and our onshore and offshore Finance teams, you will be responsible for payroll for KBR Australia.

You will manage all pre-payroll activities, provide payroll advice, and have a strong involvement in the implementation of new FinOps and payroll systems.

As part of this role, you will be expected to develop close working relationships with key internal stakeholders, including Tax, Finance, and People & Culture, as well as any key external stakeholders/vendors.

The key responsibilities of the role will include, but is not limited to:

  • Manage all pre-payroll administrative activities for fortnightly and monthly pay cycles
  • Calculation and processing of termination payments, redundancies, back payments, overpayments, superannuation lodgments etc.
  • Support the coordination and implementation of all employee benefits
  • Coordinate process improvements within payroll to ensure duplications are minimised and demands on systems and/or resources are reduced
  • Develop & maintain relationships with key stakeholders (People & Culture, Finance, Tax, Lines of Business, and external vendors) providing high levels of customer service
  • Provide advice to the business on payroll queries and various payroll issues that may arise
  • Keep the People & Culture team and wider business up to date on key legislative changes and the impact this will have on their business

Required Qualifications, Experience and Knowledge

  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in a payroll role
  • Excellent communication skills in a range of situations both written and oral
  • A strategic and commercial awareness of payroll impacts
  • An enthusiastic and flexible attitude to work
  • The ability to be a strong and motivated team player
  • The ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Project management skills with the ability to plan and prioritize work, and meet deadlines
  • Previous experience in a standalone Payroll Advisor position is desirable
  • Previous experience with SAP, Microsoft Dynamics and/or Workday is desirable
