The Role


Are you looking for a technical role that provides exposure to a broad range of industries? Do you enjoy continuous learning and working with stakeholders to solve problems? If so then a career as a Risk Control Specialist at Suncorp might be for you.

The purpose of the role is to be the "eyes and ears" of the Property Underwriting team. This includes visiting our customer's sites, conducting fire and allied peril risk assessments and preparing related reports. You will be part of a national team with on-going training and development provided by technical and product specialists.


Key responsibilities:


  • Adopt a customerfirst approach in the promotion and delivery of Vero's risk engineering proposition
  • Complete sitebased and desktop technical risk assessments at the request of the Property Underwriting team
  • Provide guidance and advice to underwriters regarding property related risk exposures and their mitigation
  • Draft risk improvement recommendations to minimise the likelihood and/or consequence of physical property loss events for our customers
  • Represent Suncorp and specifically the Vero brand to commercial insurance brokers and customers
  • Initiate, facilitate and enhance stakeholder relationships at all levels internally.

Skills & experience:


  • Tertiary qualifications and /or relevant industry experience in engineering, science, building trade or similar field highly regarded
  • Customer facing experience highly regarded
  • An enquiring nature along with a desire to understand how things work
  • Capacity to rapidly absorb information and work creatively with customers to problem solve
  • Excellent communication and technical report writing skills
  • Ability to recognise and support the need for continuous improvement along with anticipated impact on both team and self
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel interstate.
