About the role

Reporting to the Director:

Education and Research, the
Manager: Student Wellbeing and Learning focuses on the development and implementation of a cohesive student wellbeing strategy for Sydney Catholic Schools students.

Specifically, mechanisms to aid the identification and support of students with specific wellbeing needs, the development of student wellbeing resources for students and mental health capacity building programs for staff.


The Manager:
Student Wellbeing and Learning will be a highly effective leader responsible for:

  • developing and implementing a cohesive student wellbeing strategy and overseeing the execution of agreed goals and objectives in the area of student wellbeing
- influencing and informing policy and practice by research based neuroscience in leadership and learning
- managing significant investigations on behalf of SCS
- leading the implementation of school counselling services across SCS
- working closely with the Specialist Special Education Infrastructure and Diverse Learning on the strategy to improve understanding of the requirements and responsibilities of school teams and the broader community under the DAA and the Standards
- developing and leading professional learning for school teams, school leaders and professionals most closely involved in wellbeing and pastoral care
- facilitating the development of classroom resources to support student wellbeing

  • Collaborating with key stakeholders to forecast organisation needs
- managing a team of student wellbeing staff within the Central Office and the networks in a coordinated way to implement the student wellbeing strategy
- providing leadership and direction to the student wellbeing team and managing key performance indicators for direct reports
- promoting and implementing Sydney Catholic Schools mission and vision To know and love Christ through learning and thriving Catholic communities through excellent teaching and learning
- promoting and abiding by Sydney Catholic Schools values of empathy, curiosity, excellence, collaboration and truth.


About you
- undergraduate degree qualification in Psychology, Counselling, Social Work and/or Education
- post graduate qualifications in psychology, counselling, social work, wellbeing, pastoral care and/or equivalent
- registration as a psychotherapist, psychologist or social worker
- minimum 10 years experience as a practitioner in the field of wellbeing and pastoral care
- leading a multidisciplinary team and proven ability to contribute to strategy
- experience in facilitating adult professional learning
- experience in leading change management and policy implementation
- willingness to respect, support and uphold the mission, ethos and teaching of the Catholic Church and the values of Sydney Catholic Schools in your personal and professional conduct
- a Baptised Catholic with demonstrated evidence of ongoing commitment to the teachings of the Catholic Church and engagement in the life of Catholic faith community such as a parish or an established community within the Catholic Church, as an expression of a relationship with Jesus Christ.


Additionally, the following is desirable:
- teaching experience
- current driver's licence.
