Who are ModWood?
ModWood is Australia's leading manufacturer of wood plastic composite decking and screening products.

ModWood supply these quality composite decking and fencing products to homeowners, builders and architects throughout Australia via a national distribution network.


Key infrastructure includes manufacturing and despatch facilities in Campbellfield as well as approximately 500 stockists throughout Australia and New Zealand.


About the role
An exciting opportunity has arisen to contribute your energy and expertise to lead the Operations team at ModWood.

As a member of the ModWood Leadership Team and reporting to the General Manager, you will own the day to day operations with a specific focus on safety and environmental compliance, plant performance and cost management.


In this varied role you will provide essential input into strategic and operational planning, and engage with key internal stakeholders to realise production and despatch goals, process and system improvements and support our team in managing necessary change.


As a hands on leader, you will place a high value on the training and development of our staff as individuals and as a team and foster our professional and collaborative, high performance culture.


Role responsibilities include:


  • An uncompromising focus on safe and reliable operations, sustainability and operational excellence,
  • Identifying opportunities to optimise operational performance, ensuring production throughput and quality targets are achieved,
  • Assist in the development of budgets, operational plans and objectives and operational KPI's,
  • Maximise plant uptime by developing planned and preventative maintenance strategies and by ensuring the integrity of fixed assets,
  • Identifying and evaluating improvement opportunities and assist in preparation of capital projects,
  • Support a collaborative and effective working relationship with key ModWood, AV and WesCEF functions including Customer Support, Sales and Marketing, Supply Chain and Commercial,
  • Travel interstate or overseas may be required from time to time.


This is a role where your practical mind, strong commercial acumen, focus on planning and execution, and passion for motivating and engaging others will be essential to success.


About you
You are an experienced leader with relevant tertiary qualifications in management and/or engineering or significant practical experience within an operational environment similar to ours where safety is a core value


In addition you possess:

  • A strong understanding of operational processes, supply chain management, cost and quality control,
  • The ability to analyse and interpret quantitative and qualitative feedback into a meaningful call to action to improve team performance.
  • Solid commercial acumen and strategic mindset with the ability to balance operational, technical and commercial drivers in decision making,
  • Knowledge of sustainability practices and commitment to ecofriendly operations is desirable,
  • A passion for people development and shared success, you are confident in working closely with operations and value a diverse and inclusive culture.
