Overview


Retirement & Superannuation Solutions (R&SS) Technology team is responsible for ensuring the effective and efficient operational delivery of technology services across R&SS business units and clients.


This role ensures the management and success of the Platform and Environment delivery process is through clear communication, pro-active Stakeholder engagement, robust planning, milestone tracking and to achieve established service levels between technology and the business as well as clients.


Key Accountabilities and main responsibilities
Strategic Focus

  • Developing IT Operations strategy derived from R&SS technology strategy.
  • Drive innovation and process improvements using new concepts
  • Identify, elicit requirements, develop workflows to automate Application support processes
  • Reduction in high priority incidents and service disruptions
  • Application life cycle management
  • Ensure performance & capacity to meet client signed SLAs
  • Support the delivery of the R&SS technology strategy
Operational Management

  • Provide Link Group with a secure, efficient, highly available, scalable, functional and stable Operational environment.
  • Manage technical teams working on IT Support and technology Operations
  • The management of the software builds, data refreshes and configuration applied to these environments.
  • Ensure that the competing and varying demands for environments are met or called out and escalated accordingly.
  • Liaise with the stakeholders across the Link Group to implement and administer Enterprise Application platform and keep currency of technology.
  • Create clear environment plans and communicate efficiently current environment usage.
  • Develop, maintain and improve auditable, robust, efficient and effective Software Configuration Management processes.
  • Manage and resolve environmental issues efficiently. Derive root cause and turn around environmental defects quickly and efficiently.
  • Automate process to ease environment management and rebuilds
  • Provide IT support to business users through systems problem management and maintenance
  • Ensure IT Systems stability through suitable monitoring, alerting and capacity management
  • Ensure best value for money is obtained from third party vendors by evaluating software tools and products as required.
  • Contribute to improve efficiency of process and procedure including documentation
  • Provide High Availability management and Disaster Recovery Support
  • Manage the Documentation maintenance related to Standard Operations Procedures
  • Ensure all IT security policies are effectively understood and followed.
  • Assume the IT System Manager or Owner role where delegated.
  • Manage and participate in after hours and weekend support activities
People Leadership

  • Coaches and mentors to develop team members to strengthen specific knowledge/skill.
  • Identify training needs and resources for the team.
  • Provide training to the IT support teams on supported tools and environments
  • Prepare support and on call rosters for the team.
  • Take over delegation of responsibility from the line manager as and when required.
Governance & Risk

  • Manage the resolution of Information Security Corrective actions
  • Complete the Controlled Self Assessment on time
  • Maintain Documentation related to Standard Operations Procedures
  • Raising security issues and breaches with Manager
  • Monitoring service levels for Incidents and Requests and implementing improvement programs to achieve objectives.
  • Maintain awareness and champion ITIL best practices
  • Adhere to all Link Groups standards, policies and procedures
  • Follow PMO/Project/ITIL/DevOps frameworks, policies & procedures

Experience & Personal Attributes

  • Strong problem solving, risk and issues management skills
  • Minimum 10+ years' experience working in large enterprise organisations, managing complex environments.
  • Minimum 5+ years' experience leading technology teams
  • Strong leadership experience with DevOps Platform Engineering and Automation in both onprem and in public cloud platforms preferably Azure
- leading cloud services across a complex enterprise with 24/7 services, and servicing multiple Customer Facing platforms

  • Experience with DevOps, CI/CD toolchains, Infrastructure as Code, configuration management and tools such as Terraform, Chef Puppet or Ansible, Jenkins, Git
  • An understanding of IT governance, cybersecurity, risk, and compliance requirements
  • Experience planning and delivering complex projects from inception to completion
  • Experience with a container orchestration platform, preferably Kubernetes
  • Experience in High Availability and Disaster Recovery Support
  • Experience in Supporting multiple Application Servers including JBoss, Websphere, Weblogic
  • Knowledge of Oracle and SQL Server RDBMS and SQL problem solving & scripting skills is essential.
