Cyber Risk and Compliance Coordinator, Clerk Grade 7/8

  • An exciting opportunity for a newly created position coordinating Cyber Security
  • Work in a leading emergency service agency, supporting SES members and NSW communities
  • Full time temporary roles until 30 June 2024 with the possibility of extension or made ongoing
  • Location: Wollongong, NSW with Hybrid working arrangements available
  • Attractive salary package of up to $126,210.32, includes salary + employer's 11% contribution to superannuation and leave loading

The NSW State Emergency Service (NSW SES) is an emergency and rescue service made up almost entirely of volunteers and supported by a small staff contingent.

NSW SES is a key influencer of other emergency service agencies and works closely with these partners to modernise and grow volunteering to save lives and protect communities


While major responsibilities are for flood, storm operations and tsunamis, the NSW SES also provides the majority of general rescue effort in the rural parts of the state.

This includes road accident rescue, vertical rescue, bush search and rescue, evidence searches (both metropolitan and rural), other forms of specialist rescue that may be required due to local threats, Urban Search and Rescue and Community First Response.


About you

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Hold relevant tertiary qualification(s) in IT or a related field, and/or demonstrated industry experience in Cybersecurity
  • Showcase a high level of expertise in cyber security functions, governance, audits, and maintaining maturity risk registers
  • Demonstrate the ability to exercise judgment, analyse complex security challenges, and evaluate impacts to inform policy and audit decisions Possess a thorough understanding of AIIMS principles and processes, or be eager to acquire competence within 12 months
